FUN: Youth sports should be fun for the participants, but discipline and hard work are expected, too. We offer camaraderie and true team spirit, to create a place where our young players can grow as athletes, as team members, and also as individuals. TEACH: We provide guided instruction, and our players participate in drills designed to help our players learn how to play football with skill and precision. We work with team members individually, and with the team as a whole. Our goal is to build a thorough understanding of the object and strategies of the game, as well as its rules. We COACH our players so they can develop toward their full potential. We don't ask them to be perfect, but we do ask them to play their best and try their hardest in games, as well as at practice. Please read our newly expanded Codes of Conduct. HEALTHY: An active body is a healthy body, and our players are
VERY active! Proper diet and hydration are vital to help them play their best. Good physical conditioning helps prevent illness and
injuries. A "DO-IT-YOURSELF" or crash weight loss program can injure
a growing body
and can make maintaining the proper weight even more difficult. Football League Play: Our league plays a series of games with other CFA (the former Catholic Football League) teams in the greater Susquehanna Valley area. We are a member of the CFA, but you do not need to join the Catholic church to play. All children from our area are welcome! The CFA provides league championships, playoffs, and Super Bowl at the end of the football season. (Please check our Calendar page for a game schedule.) League-approved football safety equipment and team uniforms are provided for all players. Age and Weight Brackets Due to CFA league rules, weight limits are strictly enforced:
More about eligibility and age: Children who meet the weight requirements and are at least five years old by April 30, 2008 or no older than 13 years old as of April 30, 2008 are eligible for the 2008 season. From the CFA Bylaws: Players must "be between the ages of 5 and 13 years. The age shall be determined on April 30. If a player is 13 on April 30, the player is eligible. If a player is 14 on April 30, the player is ineligible. Proof of date of birth shall be determined by birth certificate presented at the time of registration. Any other form of proof must be submitted to the Governing Body for certification." CLICK HERE for a complete run-down of the CFA bylaws that govern players and levels of play.
